Authentic Bedouin hospitality is no longer easy to find today. With the age of the Internet and smartphones, even the Bedouins in the Judean Desert have changed their lifestyle a little. In the Judean Desert, right outside of Jerusalem overlooking the Dead Sea, we will go on a fascinating trip where we will get a glimpse into the intriguing way of life of how the Bedouins live in the desert. It is not about an organized tourist site with signs, parking, a souvenir shop, etc., but about a real family living their lives in a tent in the desert in 2024! We will sit down and eat a classic and basic Bedouin meal with pita bread on the saj (traditional oven) plus traditional Bedouin labneh (white cheese), za'atar, olive oil, and a hot drink. We will bring kosher and sifted flour with us, and the landlady will prepare it for the dough. Together with her, we will light the fire, prepare the pita bread, and sit down to eat and drink while hearing stories and getting to know the Bedouin people, culture, and traditions. While we are waiting for the pitas to be ready, we can do a short tour and ride a donkey/camel (depending on which one is available:))The Bedouin camp is based deep in the desert, and as part of the adventure, we will have to go on a jeep tour to approach this isolated campsite. There is a possibility to extend the adventure by doing a full, spectacular Jeep Tour of the Judean Desert.
