Great rains befell the Judean Desert, and Nachal Rahaf flooded with fresh new water.Finally- the stream is full of clean and clear water! This makes this route a canyoning experience in the heart of the desert, one of the rarest experiences in the world !! And it only lasts for a short period of time!Since the temperatures in the desert are not yet warm, the canyon is shaded and the water is freezing, we will wear professional canyoning wet suits.Nachal Rachaf, a beautiful canyon in the southern Judean Desert, is one of the deepest and narrowest canyons in the country. On the way into the canyon, we will see magnificent views of the Dead Sea, Jordan, and the Judean desert. Once we enter the canyon, we will go through narrow passages, climb down ladders, and encounter pools that we will need to swim across. There are a few sky-high waterfalls, and the only way to pass them is by rappelling off the towering rock ledges into pools of water far below. We will see many small animals, birds, and possibly even deer who come to drink from the water that fills the canyon after the rains. This canyon adventure is Fun Fun Fun! It is a challenging and adventurous hike and you need to be in shape, but no experience is necessary.Rappelling and swimming are mandatory. Depending on the time of year, there may be no swimming necessary, and other times it is necessary to swim through up to seven pools.Estimated time: 5 to 7 hours.
