An adventurous, technical hike requiring special gear and a licensed guide.Rappelling in Israel. Canyoneering in Israel. Hiking In Israel. Amazing views. Seriously high rappels. An amazing, adventure…all this and more when you trek Nahal Tamarim with Israel Extreme… We start the hike at the bottom of the canyon close to the Dead Sea beaches, heading into the desert. As we zigzag our way up the canyon trail we will be enchanted by beautiful scenery and panoramic views of the Dead Sea and the mountains of Moav and Adom. As we climb higher and higher, the blue sky is ahead of us. Once we reach the top of the canyon, we will turn and head into Nahal Tamarim. Be prepared for a real adventure. As we hike and rappel down through the canyon, the glistening Dead Sea lies before us (See picture below)… With luscious fig trees in the distance we will excitedly approach our first high waterfall and rappel down over 200 feet to continue on our adventure…… most of the year the falls are dry; the only time there is running water is after the rains. We will continue hiking until we come to the next obstacle, another high cliff (dry waterfall). Each fall is different and exciting in its own way. Some of these falls have fascinating geological shapes, carved by the water, which makes the rappelling through them exceptionally interesting… We will continue like this on our amazing rappelling adventure until we arrive back to where we started, close to the beaches of the Dead Sea. As a bonus when walking down into the canyon (depending on the time of year), we are likely to see wild animals and birds, including eagles that nest in the cliffs.Estimated time for the day: 4 ½-7 hours.
