The Ramon Crater in Israel’s Negev Desert is the world’s largest erosion crater or makhtesh. A landform unique to Israel’s Negev and Egypt’s Sinai deserts, a makhtesh is a large erosion cirque, created eons ago when oceans covered the area. The Ramon Crater measures 40 km in length and between 2 and 10 km in width, and is shaped like a long heart (it's the heart of the Negev!) It forms Israel’s largest national park, the Ramon Nature Reserve. At the edge of the crater, just in front of the visitor's center in Mitzpe Ramon, we offer an exhilarating rappelling adventure - no experience necessary!Your private guide will lead you step by step through this thrilling experience, which you can do multiple times should you like! There is a short trail that leads you from the bottom of the cliff back to the top. This is a fantastic way to either begin or end your stay at the world-famous Ramon Crater.Estimated Time: 1.5 - 3 Hours
